Blinds

Written by Evan Saenger | May 29, 2022 3:01:32 AM

Sleep deeply with it and walk down all the lines
Of past memories burned and brittle
Writing on a page now smeared with soot and rain
You were a child then and
There was nothing at all you could do
Hell, much less that you could say
Get drunk all day and don’t think of it

Whatever it is doesn’t matter at all
Apathy though life teems with meaning
Or do you impose it upon everything you see
And all you hear so fleeting and so close
Infinitude will make you nauseous
Should you think on it too long
So don’t and lay down
Breathe one final breath
Before 450 million more

You might as well not have an end
And you know you likely don’t
The sun bathes you in your room
A million or a billion
You’ll never close the blinds
Gently fall asleep, ethanol dreams
The ideal warmth to help you forget
And simultaneously remember all the better days you have ahead
For your fucked up fragile and unlimited life
